Sometimes called an Asian Pear, this fruit tastes like a sweet and perfect combination of a pear and an apple. This simple spiced fruit preserve adds those fall flavours to whatever you spread it on and is a tasty change from applesauce.

Spiced Apple Pear Jam
Great as a jam, this also makes a wonderful ingredient in muffins or cake! This adds so much flavour and moisture to your baking!
Prepare apple pears by coring, peeling and slicing. There is a wonderful machine that does this!
Put the fruit in a large heavy pot and add 1/4 cup lemon juice.Toss with the juice.
Add sugar and spices and stir until blended.
Over low heat, cook slowly until mixture is thick enough to spread.
Put in jars and freeze for storage or follow canning rules to keep on your shelf. Also really good on waffles!! Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
We are so grateful to have these growing in our backyard! Freeze some sauce without the sugar and spices so that you can add some to your Sesame Stir Fry Sauce! Try using this instead of applesauce in your next batch of scones!
