A table full of delicious treats and all of them vegan! There are so many ways to embrace the joys of holiday appetizers! The traditional trays of processed meats and cheeses can be left in the past as we move to kinder, healthier options. Creating new ways to prepare favourite recipes, discovering wonderful flavour combinations from around the world, and making compassionate choices, all help make the holidays bright!
A new flavour combination for me is this Roasted Red Pepper and Walnut Spread, a version of a Middle Eastern favourite. Rich with garlic and roasted pepper flavour, this makes a great dip and is also delicious as a spread on a sandwich.
A warm, savoury flavour of Cashew Cream Cheeze nestled in a crispy phyllo pastry shell is a welcome addition to an appetizer tray! You can make the parts ahead of time; just fill and pop these in the oven to warm when you are ready for them! Of course, this cheeze is also great cold as a dip, or as a tasty spread in a wrap or sandwich.
These Purple Potato Puffs are a simple combination of earthy flavours and can certainly be made with any type of potato. A little sprinkle of Cashew Crumble adds a cheezy touch.
Quinoa Falafel Bites are a crispy, nutritious appetizer, especially good dipped in some garlicky homemade vegan tzatziki. Oven-baked or air-fried, these are quick, nutritious and easy to create!
Holiday nibbling for me always included a bowl of crunchy, spiced, cereal/pretzel/nut mix. Here’s to the making of a new tradition: A Mindful Munchy Mix.
I hope your holidays are full of joy and rich with the warmth of family and friends! May we all make mindful and loving choices with every bite!
