It just makes sense to apply what we know about the value of nutritious food choices to the feeding of our furry “best friends”. Providing a healthy balance of plant-based proteins and a generous variety of veggies, fruits, and nuts, we can ensure that our pups are full of energy and wholesome goodness! We can also hope to avoid the well-documented negative health consequences of mass produced, animal-based dog foods.
Katie, our beautiful rescue pup, is a perfect example of a young, energetic and quite intelligent individual who is thriving on a combination of her daily V Planet plant-powered kibbles and the nutrient-rich addition of homemade “soft” food. We hope to avoid the cancer that so many dogs today suffer with.

- Combine all ingredients in a large pot and heat slowly. Cook until the mixture becomes a tasty stew and veggies have cooked down.
- Let cool, then freeze in 3-4 cup servings for variety. Every time you make this it will probably be a little different, depending on what leftovers are in your freezer. (Dogs get bored eating the same thing, too!)
- I put a cup or so on her 4 cups of vegan crunchies. (She turned out to be a large and beautiful being!) That way I know she is getting all the basics in the way of vitamin/mineral additives from the certified kibble and enjoying the benefits of a variety of healthy vegan "toppings".

Update: I have found our dogs like their food to be processed into a tasty mush sometimes, so that there aren't any lumps of veggies to leave behind.
Always make sure to change your dog's diet gradually, mixing old food with a new variety until you can serve 100% of the new food.
Thx!
I have an 8 pound multi poodle mix named Boogie… He’s very energetic but as he’s reaching his seventh year, he’s having more and more dental problems and knee and joint problems which the vet says it’s typical but I’m concerned just feeding him kibble and roasted chicken is not helping him stay healthy. I really appreciate Your recipe… I’ve gone plant-based in the last year and have felt so much better myself so I’m going to try it with him gradually! I will update you in a month when he’s been on more plant-based foods with your recipe… It’s harder to find a recipe than you might think there’s a lot of dog food brands that exalt plant-based kibble that they sell, but not so many recipes of people doing it yourself. Thanks again for posting your recipes !
Thanks for your kind words. V Planet kibble is a great basic food, but they do like other flavours added. Eliminating chicken from your dog’s food is a great idea! So glad that both you and your dog are choosing a plant-based diet! Wishing you both good health and happiness!
