An easy, healthy and delicious treat for your best friend, these homemade Sweet Potato Treats are a popular item with the canine crowd! Our two rescue pups get some “chippies” every morning!
Wash and dry your large sweet potatoes. Large ones make very desirable "chippies"!
Slice thinly, as evenly as possible. Using a mandolin slicer works well. This makes the slices dry more evenly.
Spread the slices on a baking tray and cook for about 10 minutes or until the potatoes have softened. This makes the potato more digestible.
Spread your soft slices on the trays of your dehydrator in a single layer. Let dry until desired crispness is desired. We let them go overnight and the treats are ready for a morning tail wagging treat!
Keep them air-tight and enjoy regularly!
Recipe Notes
If you don't have a dehydrator, you can do them slowly in a slow oven, but I would advise getting a dehydrator as they are very useful for so many things!
